Jeanette is a blind mother of two children, her youngest Connor is also blind from a rare genetic condition. Growing up in a household with high expectations helped Jeanette to achieve many of the goals she set for herself. She is passionate about education and spends time advocating for her young son to have all of the services and assistive technology that will help him to be successful in school and beyond. She is passionate about braille and knows that it is critical to the long-term success of blind children. Being a partially sighted child Jeanette was not told how critical it would be for her to use braille as a primary means of reading when she was growing up, and she is dedicated to teaching Connor the skills that she did not have until later in her own life. 

After a 17-year career in Human Resources Management Jeanette has decided to go back to school to pursue a Master’s degree in Child Family Therapy. Jeanette is also passionate about sex-positive, consent-centered education for blind children and is planning to focus much of her research and education in this area.
